I expected more from the only french restaurant in Syracuse.
My husband and I went to L'adour- Syracuse's one and only french restaurant- to celebrate a milestone anniversary. We moved to the area last year and were both excited to eat at this restaurant for the first time.
The service was slow from the start. It WAS Friday night, we had a reservation, but there were only 2 other tables. I don't understand why it took so long to be seated, then to order. We became a little impatient.
We wanted a table (not a booth) and were seated by a row of windows. It was a little drafty, glad I had a sweater.
We asked the server for wine recommendations to accompany both of our meals and it seemed that anything on the wine list would do! We just wanted something special but the server seemed to be impatient with us.
I had the fish special of the evening and it was overcooked, no flavor and it had ample overpowering sauce.
My husband described his beef as so-so.
We decided to skip dessert.
In the end I will describe my experience as ok. It wasn't worth the money. We won't be back.
Stay Away !!!!. They seated us after ignoring us for 5 minutes. It was very empty and cold. There was very little service, no menu recommendations. The menu was predictible and basic, yet the prices were through the roof. When we finished eating, our server left the empty plates in front of us for 20 minutes, while she folded napkins. Why? There were no customers. We could hear screaming from the kichen over the music. We would have had coffee, but didn't want to give up another half hour to be served. For one appetizer, two dinners (one was at room temp), and two house wines our bill was $100 with tip. Way too much to be ignored!!!! I know Paris and this is not it. Cluttered, loud, and over priced!!!!!!
Mediocre food, vinyl tablecloth and sloppy service.
Being a visitor to Syracuse, I relied on the internet for some guidance on where to take my best friend for a quiet birthday dinner. The L?Adour website promised a composed and elegant dining experience; the reality is that the space is a cramped, offering tables and booths with vinyl tablecloths and ripped upholstery (although neatly repaired with like color duct tape) with service that still needs to make it through ?Waiting Tables 101? and food that certainly sounds good (what French food doesn?t?) but in the end is just not worth it.
To the credit of our waitress, she likely does speak French as she corrected me on my pronunciation of the Champagne that I ordered. Beyond this however, she made no introduction to the menu nor did she make any indication that she was particularly familiar with it, never brought up the specials, did a horrible job pouring our champagne (spilling it will merely a ?whoops? as an apology) and filling each glass almost to the rim. Later with dinner, we ordered a bottle of Bordeaux, the waitress poured a sample glass for herself ?to see if the wine was good? ? I have never seen this done before without a request from the host/hostess of the dining party.
The food was OK, but I feel pretty confident that a trip to Wegmans and my own modest kitchen skills could have easily produced the same and quite possibly tastier results on everything but the escargot. Granted, the tenderloin was delicious, but great steak is often bought not made; I bet I can find such a cut of meat for less than $35. And I am positive that I can find a far superior double shot of espresso for much less that $4.50 ? being a bit of a coffee snob, that was perhaps the biggest disappointment of the evening.
As I signed my name on the credit card receipt I thought how disappointing it is to spend that much money for food that is ?just OK? and service that is that sloppy. Certainly $300 can buy a far better dining experience some place else.
A nice late dinner. L'Adour has a comfortable vibe about it, showing many regions of France on the walls, checkered tablecloth's and cute wine glasses, the menu is a little limited, however, the wine list is good and so is the food. Good for a late dinner date with a good friend.
avoid the duck. Great atomsphere and ambiance. Three orders of duck breast were over brined, over cooked and had a peculiar strong flavor that tasted off. very disappointing
Outstanding French Cuisine, Properly Served. The best French food in the area and one of the few good resxtaurants as well. Highly recommended. Save room for dessert.

Best in Syracuse. Went to L'Adour for the first time. Had the four course menu and the food was amazing. The service was polite and non rushed. Dining room was pleasant (although a bit dull.) But who cares the food WOW! You really must experience this delicious treat if you are visiting or live in the Syracuse area.
