BBQ Food – I visited the restaurant in Liverpool NY; it was awful Poor quality (dry and tasteless beef what should have been brisket; cut very thick... just bad) waitress had very limited knowledge of product and not helpful at all; will not go again :(
BEST BBQ JOINT IN SYRACUSE – Anyone who doesn't like this place is nuts. The food here is amazing, the atmosphere is great, and the service is fun and friendly. I've eaten here a number of times getting everything from Burgers, Ribs, Chicken, sandwiches, and more. Their Philly Cheese steak is phenomenal. Their Pulled Pork sandwich is so tender and juicy it makes my mouth water just thinking of it. All of their meals come with 2 sides, and the choices are fantastic. Their Pasta and Potato Salads are some of the best I've ever tasted, as is their Jalapeno Cornbread. The Chili they have is another big winner. Spicy, tasty, and so full of flavor it will knock you over. Honestly, you really can't go wrong with anything from the menu.
Also, just for a reference, their food is VERY reasonably priced with their most expensive dish only costing 13 dollars. And the portions! You can get a HALF chicken and quarter-rack of ribs and 2 sides for 13 bucks. You can get a HUGE sandwich and 2 sides for 7-8 bucks. And then the drinks! Great beers on tap (Guinness, Saranac, Yuengling, etc etc...), and 2 for 1 margharitas at all times. They AREN'T too sweet... at least they never have been when I've been there.
I'd rate this as the BEST BBQ joint in Syracuse, alongside Dinosaur BBQ. Try it for yourself and don't be biased based on 1 bad review.
The Worst barbecue in Syracuse – This is the worst Barbecue restaurant I have ever been to. I had an order of ribs that had very little flavor to them and no BBQ sauce was offered for them. My wife had smoked wings and they too suffered from a lack of sauce. The side dishes, with one exception, sucked. The Jalapeno corn bread was the only good thing that I had. The baked beans appeared to be nothing more than a can of Bush's beans. The Roasted corn was canned corn baked until a few kernels got crispy. The Margaritas were so sweet that I could very well imagine a little kid taking the left overs from his/her lemonade stand and pouting a little (and I do mean a little) tequila into it.
Save yourself some money if you ever feel tempted to go to this place for barbecue - go to McDonalds and buy a McRIb. It will taste better and cost you less.
I love this bar!!! – I have to say, this bar is just like the song, its my kind of place. My friends and I frequent this bar on an almost weekly basis and it is fantastic. This bar used to be a chain restaurant and the owner Chuck has done a wonderful job disguising that fact. The decor is South-West cheesy and it works great. I have been to just about every bar in Syracuse and if you are looking for a hometown (and non-scuzzy) bar, the Limp Lizard is it. The patrons are a variety of people, from bikers to men in business suits to small children. They do catering, which is wonderful during the summer parties, especially because all the food is wonderful. The chef does a great job cooking all the food to your liking and I especially recommend any flavor of chicken wings that they offer. The atmosphere is cozy and warm and the music is bluesy/country. The staff is attentive and courteous even though its always a busy place. The live band's that they host on the weekends are talented and the music adds to the wonderful atmosphere. It is a welcome addition to a town full of, shall I say "over-rated" Irish bars. Thanks for doing all the great work guys!!
THE OWNER NEEDS TO KNOW – The owner of LIMP LIZZARD should be told about his employees, good/great customer service is vital to small business owners. I'm sure the owner would of corrected any situation to the customers satisfaction. Give LIMP LIZZARD another chance and any problems in any establisment should be brought to the owner/management ASAP.
Great Pork Sandwiches – I have visited the lounge several times and each time it was a very pleasant experience. The wait staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. I have ordered a number of different menu items but my favorite is the pork sandwich it was gigantic and delicious. I have order several different sides with my sandwiches and they have been very generous and delicious. I am looking forward to my next visit which will be 02/18/2007.
Great food and great service... what more could you ask for? – I would highly suggest coming here for a hearty lunch or dinner. If you are not so hungry, you can always order your meal with "no sides" and subtract two bucks. The wraps are delicious, the burritos awesome, and the pizza to die for. Any day is a great day to visit!
Not As Good As Expected – In a strange craving to find the best chicken wings in Syracuse, I was curious about Limp Lizard's Smoked Wings that I had heard of. I thought if char-grilled were great, then smoked would be out of this world. At the very least I thought they would be OK. Well I was disappointed...big time!
The bar and grill has nice ambiance, with props that live up to it's name. A tank holds a Bearded Dragon, which is a rather tame Australian lizard. Far be it for me as a reptile keeper to keep a lizard or it's cage anywhere near where food is served, but what do I know?
Anyway, I put in an order of their medium smoked wings to-go. My order didn't take too long and I left. When I opened the container, the celery sticks were scattered under the wings. The bleu cheese was more than abundant. Then the surprise. I only had 10 wings with my order. Their add doesn't really specify if their order is a dozen, so they were rather pricey. Either way this should be specified on their menu, and I wasn't going to drive back to argue over 2 wings.
The taste of the wings weren't anything to brag about. I had better in a supermarket deli. I don't think I'll be patronizing them anytime in the future and I have shared my thoughts with friends, family and co-workers.
Slow Service but Great Food – This place has great food and drinks but the service is slow. I would suggest ordering 2 drinks at once, haha. Definitely worth going to if you are patient. I love the salads. Also the chili is really good and the black bean soup is excellent. It is a pretty small bar and there are not always very many people there. What is really interesting is that there are real Lizards in the middle of the lounge.
