For French, it can only be "Joelle's". There's no doubt this is the best in the Skaneateles area - and it's not just the wonderful French food. Host/owner Alain is unlike any other - a true gentleman, always at the door to welcome you into his "home", and treating the newcomer (as well as the oft returning guest) as if they are the most important person in the world. It doesn't matter whether our friends are neighbors two doors down or company from out-of-state. They are always treated to Joelle's for a true dining experience. Joelle herself always manages to pull herself away from the busy kitchen of savory meals and to-die-for desserts to come out and say "hello" to her guests.

So, what to order? It's not an easy task, but may I suggest the "fresh beet and avocado salad", and probably the best "escargots a la bourguignone" you've had anywhere, anytime, for starters. Entrees? We've tried most and haven't had one yet that we didn't love. As for desserts, I fall victim to the "creme brulee" every time - can't help it!

The wonderful wine list, without being overwhelming, was obviously carefully thought out, and if you have any questions, Alain gladly recommends from their cellar to your taste. Our favorite, every time - St. Laurent Estate Pouilly Fume.

It just doesn't get any better than this!
