Great local reputable instrument store. I have been playing guitar for 23 years and have purchased numerous guitars here thru Terry..I am surprised by the comments posted!..the staff is very helpful and informative, things I do not get at the local guitar center..I just purchased another Fender and am very satified..I strongly encourage musicians to buy from a local reputable dealer like Beat Street Music!

Know your prices before you go there. Buyer beware. Went to BSM for a trade of a mint condition 40 year old Martin left to me by my dad on the recommendation of a friend. The value he quoted for it was in line with what I expected; I could have sold it for more on Craigslist, but didn't want the hassle of it. There were no prices on any of the guitars we tried in the store, and it was dark in there (for a reason) and should have been suspicious then. There was no way of knowing what was in the range of the trade in other to trust him. However the owner seemed to be an upfront guy, so I trusted that the prices he gave were the actual value of what he had on display. Long story short, when I got home with the new guitar, it was on the BSM website for $600 less than the trade in value of the Martin quoted! The posting was immediately removed by BSM and he denied it.

When I called the next day, to get the guitar back, undo the deal, or get a refund of what I was owed, and questioned why I was told a different price on the guitar I ended up with, I was told the Martin was sold already. No surprise there. Then when I asked for the value returned, that wasn't going to happen either.

Before we left, he took about 15 minutes to do a set up of it as the action was high. I have since had someone look at it as it was buzzing badly when I got it home. Apparently he filed down the frets, the nut and bridge. Badly. I haven't been able to play it as it is currently being repaired.

So I traded in a 40 year old mint Martin for a guitar worth 1/2 the value. My loss. But your gain from my review.

So the moral is, there is a good selection of guitars there, but know your prices, be suspicious of whatever he tells you, and don't let him do the "set up". Bring someone with you that has internet access so you can see the prices too.
