Syracuse >Joseph's At The Carriage House
well "fred" must be a lucky man to get offered 25$ for something so disgusting. . . Josephs is much classier than the last comment written a year ago by a "man" with only one post to this website.
i am very mad athe experiance here. I would not even rate this place. It deserves a negative rating. I had my nails done by a girl named lydia. She was pleasant at first but when we started to talk she asked me if i wanted some of there special services. i thought i was going to get a deal on a pedi. well after asking her what she had to offer what prceeded to tell me she offers the other kind of serices. To start with a hand job she could do for 25.00 and it got worse from there. now granted i am a guy but i am happly married with 3 kids to my wife of 14 years. Well after getting my nails done i decided to get out of this place. As i went up front to pay and try to talk to the rude women that does not speak well enlish at all. I tried to tell her what this young girl tried ofering my. All she did is throw my money back at me like i am the one that did something wrong and give me this nasty look. this reminded me like the time i went over seas as a service man and went to one of those places this is of course before i met my wife. i dare do not want to tell my wife. But i will never go to this place again and i do say buyer beware of the foriegn lady at the desk and the young girl named lydia.
Everyone was really friendly and helpful!
I was given a compliment on my eyebrows and they did a great job! Definitely going back!
BEYOND HORRIBLE & UNPROFESSIONAL!!. Overpriced and rude. I ordered hair product from this salon and then a few weeks later ordered the same product. When I went to pick up the second time, I was not only charged 35% more than the first time, but the bottles were half the size of the original order!! I was given no explanation. I later found the same product at other salons for about half the price. Unbelievable! Also, I had made an appointment in advance for some services but apparently that was not conveyed to the salon employee because she actually used PROFANITY when she was told that she had a customer waiting. Ugh.... NEVER AGAIN!!
Love this place!. Patricia, Pat, Ted, Shannon are awesome stylists and colorists. Professional and talented, with a dedicated following of clients. Patricia did my updo for my prom and made me look like I could attend the Oscar awards or walk a red carpet. I go there regularly for my waxing. The waxing gal is quiet and reserved, but I prefer that to someone chewing my ears off with chatter, because I want to relax when I'm there. The receptionist is a hoot - entertainment at its finest - I feel like I'm right back in the City 'cuz she tells it like it is, but is big-hearted and can get me an appointment at the last minute. I can always count on her. Only thing I'd change is that background radio music (sometimes it's unrelaxing classical stuff - they should play relaxing cds over a sound system) and I'd have some of the stylists lower their voices.
terrible brow threading. not only was the threading lady rude, she butchered my poor brows! i told her i like them on the thicker side. she barely spoke to me, ripped through them painfully, and took way too much off. the shape is bad and uneven. but there are spots where its not even clean w/scragly hairs here and there! i have had my brows threaded for years where i used to live. so far josephs is the only place ive found in the area who does threading but its NOT worth it! just lettin them sllooowly grow back in.
Pricey, slow, poor attitude. Tried the place a few years back and left because of the unfriednly attitude, including criticism of the last customer while cutting my hair. Decided to give it another try recently. After several visits, I'm making a change. Service is slow (you're kept waiting and it takes a long time to get a hair cut), prices are high and escalate without warning (20% more the last visit, without a word said until you go to pay). Attitude is judgemental and unfriendly.
Great eyebrows, but not a spa atmosphere.
I decided to give Joseph's a try after I read an article in the Post Standard that said the salon uses a hair-removal technique known as threading. A friend of mine in college used to get this process done on her eyebrows and they were always beautiful.
I was completely disappointed when I first walked into the "spa". It was really tiny and had an almost harsh atmosphere. My idea of a spa experience is a relaxing getaway. Soft music, soothing surroundings... not Neil Diamond blaring in the background and a random man sitting next to me eating cheesecake out of a paper plate.
All in all I was taken in time. Kumar (the woman who did my eyebrows) was extrememly professional and knowledgeable. She had both my brows done in minutes and they came out beautifully. I'd go back there to get my eyebrows done again. I certainly would not go there if I wanted to have a relaxing and pampering experience. It seems like a good place for something quick.
Run the other way. I agree with Gina about #1, the prices are too high for here and #2, the desk woman is wretched. How can one be in business with such miserableness as the face of your salon? My visit, however was just plain bad. I went to this girl Candi. By looking at her, I thought this girl knows what she is doing. Ha! I was wrong. I asked for caramel color with blonde hi lites. I got orange color with yellow orange hilites. Disaster. I was there for 5 hours trying to be fixed. Needless to say, I had to be colored back to my natural and now my hair feels like straw. Thanks Candi and all the others there who have no clue!!!
Rude face of the salon. I called to make an appointment for hilites. The desk woman was so mean and grumpy. This was recommended by a friend. What was she thinking? Ok I did like my color, but not enough to deal with surrounding staff atmosphere. I could go somewhere else and get the same color with a SMILE! I feel the first impression is lasting and it was all downhill from the phone call. Really expensive too for Syracuse.
